The existing library in Valandovo was established in 1945 and was first located in the house of Risto Stamkov in the very center of the city. At the beginning, it counted 850 titles that were donated from the home libraries to the citizens of the municipality. Until 1956, the city library in Valandovo was called the National Library, and then it received the current name "Goce Delchev". From 1955 to 1959 the library worked in the house of Jovan Jovanov, and from 1959 to 1961 in the premises of the retirement home, i.e. the small restaurant "Anska Reka". From 1961 to 1981 it was located in the premises of the former cafe "Balkan". Since 1981, the library "Goce Delchev" is located in the premises of the cultural center in Valandovo.
The first librarian was Risto Turundziev. Pandora Getova and Gjorgji Stojchev worked shortly after him. From 1951, Vasil Karakamchev was appointed responsible librarian, who worked until his retirement, in 1987, in this period from 1981, Marika Mancheva, who worked until 2011, also started working as a librarian. Today the responsible librarian is Ljiliana Nanova who started working in 1997.
The library fund since the establishment of the library was constantly growing and in 1995 amounted to 27,500 publications and to date that number has increased to a fund of 36,620 books, which are divided into an adult section containing 25,605 books, a book department for children which contains 11 023 books and a native collection of 173 books. The library is enriched with books from several capital projects of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, such as the project "Translation of 1000 professional, scientific books and textbooks", the project "Stars of World Literature" and the project "Nobel Laureates".
